As it turns out, Gregg Berhalter and Gio Reyna never got back on the same page after all.

Berhalter, the since-fired manager of the United States Men’s National Team, and Reyna, one of the team’s best players, famously had a massive falling out after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Now Reyna throwing some shade at his former coach, liking an Instagram post from Bleacher Report that announced Berhalter’s firing.

Reyna has since unliked the post, but we were able to verify that the screenshot showing his like was not a hoax.

Gio Reyna And Gregg Berhalter Had Major Beef After 2022 FIFA World Cup

Berhalter briefly lost his job following the 2022 World Cup in large part due to Reyna, who played sparsely at the tournament. Reyna’s father Claudio, a USMNT legend in his own right, blackmailed the manager and revealed a prior domestic incident between Berhalter and his wife Rosalind.

“There were 150 people in the Friends and Family program at this year’s World Cup. All were having a great time – except for five people who were absolutely miserable. Those five were cursing, acting horribly. It was the Reynas,” Berhalter said of the Reyna family following an investigation.

Berhalter eventually regained the USMNT manager position. And Reyna somehow returned to the fold as well, all without much to-do.

“I spoke with (US Soccer Sporting Director) Matt Crocker in Las Vegas after the Mexico game,” Reyna told ESPN’s Derek Rae. “He said I will have an important role in the program for many years going forward.”

But it’s clear that some wounds never heal and Reyna did not want Berhalter back in charge.

Now the USMNT is set to look in a different direction, with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly leading the way in the USSF’s search for a “serial winner.”
