The final round of Sunday’s Travelers Championship quickly devolved into mayhem when a group of protestors ran onto the green at No. 18 as the final group wrapped things up in Connecticut. Scottie Scheffler couldn’t help but crack a smug grin even though he probably had some PTSD from Louisville.
It was a wild scene!
Scheffler was by himself atop the leaderboard with one putt to win the Travelers. Tom Kim was breathing down his neck just one stroke back. The chaos proceeded to unfold as the former lined up his roll.
A rogue climate protestor got things started when he broke out of the gallery and ran through the nearby sand trap as he lit some kind of smoke bomb. At least three other “activists” followed suit as the CBS broadcast tried to figure out what was going on.

Meanwhile, down on the golf course, fans ruthlessly booed the protestors. Chants of “U-S-A!” broke out among the gallery while the Nutmeg State police officers secured the scene. It became deafening!

The protestors were not-so-kindly escorted out in handcuffs.

Shoutout to the police for how they handled the situation. Their quick response didn’t stop the smoke from scarring the green, but they got there in a hurry and shut it down. There was quite a few of them!

One officer in particular deserves to be crowned MVP. If there are any NFL organizations out there in need of a linebacker, they should give him a call. He came flying in from the back of the green and laid a big hit on one of the “activists” with textbook form.
The officiating crew couldn’t even try to flag him for targeting with how he turned his head to avoid leading with the crown of his helmet! It was a slobberknocker.

If the protest wasn’t crazy enough, the tournament went to a playoff after Scheffler missed his putt by inches!
