Grant Seagren is going to visit Oklahoma State while he considered his options in the transfer portal. While that might seem like a normal thing to do, for a college football player to do his due diligence, he already spent last season with the Cowboys.

The highly-coveted offensive lineman is going to visit the school for which he just played.

I cannot say I have ever seen this before in college football or college sports. Maybe it happens quietly behind the scenes but this scheduled trip back to Stillwater was announced publicly as a recruiting trip.

Who is Grant Seagren?

As a native of Nebraska, Seagren actually began his career as a tight end. The former two-star prospect did not receive a single scholarship offer out of high school and chose to walk-on at the flagship university in his home state. He did not know what position he was going to play upon arrival to campus.

The Cornhuskers ultimately sent him with the offensive line on his first day of practice.

From that point forward, the 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end’s future was at tackle. Seagren took a redshirt in 2023 to bulk up for his new role. He played in seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2024.

And then it was off to the transfer portal— for the first time.

Grant Seagren ultimately committed to Oklahoma State. The former walk-on tight end started every game for the Cowboys in 2025 at 311 pounds and blossomed into a star.

However, with the firing of Mike Gundy and uncertainty surrounding the program in Stillwater, Seagren decided to explore all of his options for 2026 and entered the transfer portal for the second time.

Back to Oklahoma State.

It has been a unique journey for Grant Seagren and the journey is not yet over. He is considered the second-ranked offensive tackle in the transfer portal, per On3. Four schools are in the mix.

Seagren is going to to take back-to-back-to-back visits over the next seven days, with dates still to be determined for a trip to Arkansas. His travel itinerary includes a stop at his most recent former program.

  • Auburn: January 2-3
  • Oklahoma State: January 3-4
  • Northwestern: January 5-6
  • Arkansas: TBD

Yes, you read that correctly. Seagren is going to visit his own school.

Although the return trip to Stillwater might seem strange, because it is, there is a method to the madness. He will be able to visit with other potential Oklahoma State transfers who are also on campus at the same time. That will give him the chance to evaluate his fit for next year (and the year after) as opposed to how things finished last year. It’s a fresh start.

Seagren and his representation are also in contact with multiple SEC and Big Ten programs who do not yet have a visit scheduled. The list of suitors extends beyond Auburn, Northwestern, Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
