Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur found himself in a strange situation on Thursday night when he got into a head verbal altercation with a Detroit Lions fan. The fan was on the field prior to the Thursday Night Football showdown between the two NFC North rivals as part of Detroit’s “One Pride” initiative.

However, he took things a step too far when he approached LaFleur on the sidelines and appeared to yell something in his direction.

LaFleur immediately turned to him and yelled back, appearing to tell the fan to “shut the f— up.” Several Green Bay players then came over and began to yell at the fan in a situation that could have turned ugly.

NFL fans appeared to be fully on LaFleur’s side.

“Under no circumstances should fans be this close to players or coaches during the pregame,” one fan wrote. “It’s completely unacceptable for something like this to even be possible.”

Why is there a fan on the field and that close to the sideline? Where was security? A player should have destroyed him,” said another.

Detroit, coincidentally, was home to the infamous “Malice at the Palace” when Ron Artest and his Pacers teammates got into a fight with Pistons fans who threw trash at the players. Thankfully, we avoided anything like that on Thursday night.
