The Green Bay Packers have been an abject disaster during the 2022 NFL season. Green Bay entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, thanks largely to two-time reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers. But Rodgers hasn’t been anywhere near his best and the Packers have suffered for it.
Green Bay entered Sunday night’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles at 4-7 on the year and clinging to the smallest sliver of playoff hopes. Rodgers, meanwhile, has played much of the season with a broken thumb in his passing hand and the numbers have reflected just that.
The 38-year-old has completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 2,682 yards, 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions. While the numbers aren’t downright horrendous, the nine picks are the most he’s thrown in an entire season since 2010 when he threw 10.
Now it appears that it may be time for Green Bay to look to the future. And 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love looked every bit the heir apparent on Sunday night.
NFL Fans Think Jordan Love May Be Ready To Replace Aaron Rodgers After Impressive Cameo
Rodgers struggled yet again against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. He went 11-of-16 for 140 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions before leaving the game with a rib injury.
That offered an opportunity to backup QB Jordan Love. Green Bay surprisingly selected Love with the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s spent most of the last two seasons on the bench, making just one start against the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
Love played the entire fourth quarter against the Eagles and nearly led Green Bay to an impressive comeback. He finished the night 6-of-9 (nice) for 113 yards and a touchdown.

The impressive cameo performance led a number of fans to call for the Packers to look to the future at the quarterback position.
Start Jordan Love the rest of the season. https://t.co/SA4xfo9ht8

"Why didn't they trade Aaron Rodgers last offseason then?"
I think you all are forgetting how quarterback development works, and the Green Bay Packers are the fucking masters of it. Jordan Love was not ready yet.
He is now.
Jordan Love is the future.

In an extremely limited amount of time here, Jordan Love looks like a dude who was preparing for Aaron Rodgers to either leave and be a Broncos or leave and never come back after a crazy hallucinogenic trip off some sort of acid tea that transports him to the set of Divergent

Packers fans are also excited about rookie wide receiver Christian Watson. Green Bay selected Watson in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and he’s broken out in recent weeks. Watson has six touchdown catches in the last three weeks, including one from Love on Sunday where he hit the afterburners.
Christian Watson reached a top speed of 20.97 mph on his 63-yard TD reception, the fastest speed by a Packers' ball carrier this season.

#PMSIDontWantToOverreactBUT Love to Watson is the same as Rodgers to Adams. Say hello to the 3rd HOF qb in a row.

Things may be bleak now in Green Bay. But it appears that may not be that way for long.
