This offseason, the Green Bay Packers had a pretty notable absence from the start of their pre-season program.

Jaire Alexander wasn’t around for the Packers.

It wasn’t a huge deal for the team. He isn’t a disgruntled player as he is currently under a huge contract that he signed just last year.

The team also likely isn’t all that concerned about their defense right now as their biggest focus is probably on the offense, which lost some key pass catchers and is going through a huge transition at quarterback.

While it might not have been a big deal for the team, it was still a bit costly for Alexander.

Not showing up for the beginning of the pre-season program meant that he would be missing out on a $700K workout bonus, but it seems that he isn’t all that concerned about the money,

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Alexander is fine with losing that bonus.

In the grand scheme of his contract, $700K isn’t really all that much for Jaire Alexander.

He is currently entering the 1st year of a 4-year deal that can pay him as much as $84 million.

The 2023 season alone will still see Alexander take home more than $13 million between his base salary, signing bonus, and other bonuses that he is set to receive in spite of missing out on the workout bonus.

Regardless of all of that, though, $700K still feels like a whole lot of money to miss out on just to skip the beginning of your team’s pre-season program.

I guess those are just decisions you can make when you are one of the best corners in the NFL and one of the stars of the Green Bay Packers.
