A member of the Cincinnati Reds grounds crew team got trapped under a tarp on Monday as the field was being covered for rain. That moment caused quite the reaction from the broadcast booth.

Announcers couldn’t control their laughter watching the scene unfold, offering a hilarious play-by-play of the incident for viewers.

The now viral clip comes from a game between the Reds and Giants. Weather forced a delay in the action, leading the grounds crew to keep the field as dry as possible.

While tarping the infield, one member of the team lost their footing resulting in their being covered by the sheet. They then had to crawl out from beneath the tarp as others continued on their path to the dugout.

The moment was made even better by the broadcast crew, who was watching intently from the booth.

“Mayday! He got eaten by the tarp!” one announcer shouted. “They’re not even stopping! No pause. Every man left behind, fend for yourself.”

“He’s doing the crawl,” his co-host replied. “This is like basic training.”

A replay helped viewers relive the action with a focus on the fallen grounds crew member. Those that saw the clip online quickly posted reaction.

“New fear unlocked,” one follower said.

“The commentary on this was hilarious,” another person wrote.

“The tarp game is harsh, man. One slip and you’re on your own,” this fan posted.

It appeared the grounds crew member was okay after the embarrassing fall, just a little shot to the pride. The game would be suspended in the eighth inning with the score tied at 2-2.

Play will be resumed at 5:40 PM EST on Tuesday. Hopefully, tomorrow’s action proves as entertaining as tonight’s.
