Gunnar Gundy is the son of Mike Gundy. He played college football for his father at Oklahoma State.

Now an adult, the former Cowboys quarterback is choosing to unload a lot of his gear.

This kind of thing is fairly common for former college football players after their careers come to an end. However, this specific clothing dump comes with a much spicier backstory.

Mike Gundy was blindsided.

The last 12 months of Mike Gundy’s tenure at Oklahoma State were a disaster. It started in 2024.

The Cowboys were ranked as high as No. 13 in the AP Poll to start the year at 3-0. They lost their next nine games to finish the season at 3-9. Yikes.

There was a lot of chatter about Gundy in Stillwater during the late-season collapse. He was firmly on the hot seat as Oklahoma State began the 2025 season. A blowout loss to Oregon did not help.

To make matters worse, Gundy took a selfie with a group of Ducks fans either before the demoralizing defeat in Eugene or at halftime. It was really poor optics. Who does that? Did he not care?

Meanwhile, Gundy’s eldest son added even more fuel to the fire with his behavior on social media. Gavin Gundy decided (or was asked) to delete his social media after the scathing rant went extremely viral.

That did not prove to be the difference.

Oklahoma State lost to Tulsa. Gundy was fired just a few days later.

Although the writing was on the wall, the decision to actually pull the trigger came as a bit of a shock. There are very few college football coaches in history more intwined with a specific program and its identity than Gundy and the Cowboys. He made his alma mater relevant again over the course of 20 years. And his final roster (with a myriad of injuries) was simply not good enough to succeed.

His silence on the matter, even to this day, speaks louder than words. Gundy still has not addressed the ouster. No thank you. No goodbye. Nothing.

The middle son of Mike Gundy had two scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan and Toledo out of high school but he chose to walk-on at Oklahoma State instead. Gunnar Gundy played three seasons for his father in Stillwater, mostly as a backup. He passed for 449 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 120 yards and a touchdown in nine games. He also played one year at Emporia State, a Division II program.

Unfortunately, the defining moment of his college football career is a video of his shaky hands.

Gunnar ultimately joined his dad’s staff as an assistant coach last January. The school listed him on the roster as a quality control coach for the quarterbacks in 2025. The season obviously did not go well.

Not only did the Cowboys finish at 1-11, his dad was fired after just three games.

That leads us to a post on Instagram earlier this week.

Gunnar Gundy is getting ready to sell a “MASSIVE” amount of Oklahoma State gear. He is willing to release all of his old clothing for 90% off of the original retail price.

Perhaps this is a normal cleansing of the closet. Gunnar has too many clothes. College athletes often sell their old gear after they graduate. This could be that.

Or, perhaps, the Gundy family no longer wants to wear the Oklahoma State logo every day. Based on Gavin’s reaction to the firing, it did not go over well among Mike Gundy’s sons.

Either way, if you are in the market for exclusive team-issued Cowboys gear, hit up Gunnar Gundy!
