CFB Writer Predicts ‘Arch Manning-like’ Recruitment For Social Media-less Son Of Philip Rivers

Philip Rivers’ son, Gunner, is sure to be one of the most talked about names of the 2027 recruiting cycle. The rising 10th grader has made his debut in the recruiting rankings this month.

In those initial standings, Rivers came in at No. 64 in 247 Sports Top 100.

While that current status pales in comparison to Arch Manning’s top-ranked status, one writer believes the two recruitments will be similar.

Andrew Ivins of CBS Sports expects at least one aspect of the process to mirror Manning’s. That opinion comes due to Rivers’ lack of social media activity.

Arch and his people went radio silent throughout much of the process. He didn’t do many interviews and he didn’t participate in offseason camps… Manning didn’t have a social media presence until he announced a verbal commitment to Texas and only until after his commitment to Texas did he begin to open up as a high school senior, doing slightly more media in controlled settings…

Gunner — like Arch — isn’t active on X and he has no posts on his Instagram account, meaning it’s hard to get much information on his recruitment.

Arch Manning, despite boasting that football family name, was rather low-key as his recruitment played out. Instead of hosting a dramatic reveal to unveil his college commitment, he simply posted a photo of himself on X with a caption that read, “Committed to the University of Texas.”

His recruitment was tight-lipped, with it being hard to get an update from even uncles Eli and Peyton.

Ivins expects Gunner Rivers to take a similar path – and it might be even quieter!

The quarterback has no posts on his Instagram page and isn’t active on X. For that reason, it’s already becoming difficult to track his offer sheet to this point.

Rivers still has plenty of time to skyrocket up the rankings as he’s still three years away from a college debut. As of now, his father’s alma mater NC State is the only publicly known offer.

Will he follow suit, or will he take the Arch Manning route of carving his own path? It should be a fun recruitment to watch unfold!
