No player has cost themselves more money in fines so far this season than New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick. Since being traded from the Eagles to the Jets in the offseason, he’s refused to play without a new contract.
This has cost him a ton of money in fines and has hurt his future earning potential as well. Now, his agents have decided to part ways, likely out of intense frustration with his silly holdout.
Reddick made back-to-back Pro Bowls for his hometown Philadelphia Eagles in 2022-2023. But, with Reddick set to play on an expiring contract and the Eagles deciding that their long-term plans couldn’t include paying him big money, they traded him to the Jets where he was expected to be one of the centerpieces of a great defense.
But, Haason Reddick wants a new deal. Given the money that pass-rushers are getting, it’s easy to see why. A guy like Reddick, with four straight double-digit sack seasons, could get $20 million+ in AAV on a new contract.
But, he and the Jets can’t come to terms. It’s cost Reddick over $8 million in fines and lost game checks, and it’s getting to the point where he needs to play.
Mega-firm CAA agrees. They parted ways with Haason Reddick, it was reported Thursday Night.
‘Sources: CAA is parting ways with #Jets passer rusher Haason Reddick, who is the NFL’s last holdout. Reddick has not shown up at the facility, has collected millions in fines and his situation currently has no end in sight,” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport tweeted.
CAA, a powerhouse in the sports and entertainment industries, is as reputable as it gets. If they’re ditching Reddick, it means he’s acting completely irrationally. The 30-year-old needs to get it together.
