Details on the plot of Happy Gilmore 2 have been guarded like Ft. Knox lately. Even Christopher McDonald who played Shooter McGavin in the original recently told BroBible he got in trouble for leaking details on the film before the official announcement.
But we have an exclusive here at BroBible regarding the film due to having boots on the ground in New Jersey and were able to snap photos of a potential ‘major’ plot line before the film crew covered it up.
The cast and crew of Happy Gilmore 2 have been filming at the Beacon Hill Country Club in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, just a stone’s throw from Sandy Hook Bay…
That in and of itself is not particularly revealing, but on the golf course grounds during filming on Tuesday there was a leaderboard in plain view for everyone playing the course to see and that leaderboard potentially revealed a ‘major’ plot line.
In this photo, ‘US Open’ branding can be seen on the white signage behind the green leaderboard that was wrapped up to obscure it from view of people at the course. Film crew did this after seeing locals snapping photos:

That, in and of itself, is interesting but not as interesting as this. BroBible was able to obtain this photo of the leaderboard, a 1998 U.S. Open leaderboard, with Happy Gilmore leading a field including some of the biggest names in golf back in 1998, names including David Duval, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O’Meara, John Daly and others:

Noticeably absent from that 1998 U.S. Open leaderboard from the Happy Gilmore 2 set is Tiger Woods who was the biggest name in the sport at the time and finished tied for 18th in the actual 1998 U.S. Open which was held at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. And to be fair, he would have been on page 2 or 3 of the leaderboard at that time anyway and wouldn’t have been seen with the leaders.
Sandler revealed in an Instagram post back on September 9th that filming had begun when he shared a photo of Happy’s iconic Boston Bruins jersey. It is believed they will be filming at courses throughout New Jersey with reported filming locations in Morris, Bergen, Essex, Somerset, and Monmouth counties. Filming is set to take place through November.
It’s also likely that the one and only Travis Kelce will have a cameo on Happy Gilmore 2 though he was nowhere to be seen at the Beacon Hill Country Club on Tuesday.
