Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker made waves back in May with a very controversial Commencement Address at Benedictine College for what some called anti-woman comments. Butker, a devout Catholic, has spoken frequently about his strong religious beliefs.

On Friday, he’s back in the spotlight, this time for taking exception to what he perceived as an anti-Christian scene from the 2024 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies in Paris, France.

During the ceremony, a scene was shown that was reminiscent of the famous mural painting by Leonardo Di Vinci of the Last Supper, which depicts what Christians say is the final meal Jesus Christ shared with his twelve disciples before his crucifixion.

You can see the scene here.

Butker clearly didn’t like it, posting a bible verse with the video.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap. For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8″ Butker said.

Harrison Butker wasn’t the only person to complain about that specific scene on the internet. Overall, the Opening Ceremonies weren’t particularly well-received in the USA, it seems. But, it wasn’t designed with American audiences in mind.

Thankfully, everyone loved Celine Dion’s performance to close out the Opening Ceremonies.
