Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker helped save his teammate’s life during a scary incident in practice.
On Thursday afternoon, Chiefs backup defensive end BJ Thompson suffered a seizure and cardiac arrest during practice.
According to Chiefs head trainer Rick Burkholder, Butker was the first on the scene and ran to the training room to get Thompson’s help.
“With BJ when he had this seizure, Butker immediately ran to the training room and grabbed me (and oher trainers)…as a team we tried to stabilize BJ and put him on the floor while he was still seizing, our team provided CPR for him…he had one AED shock and he came back, so he was probably in cardiac arrest for less than a minute and a half…our players, our security staff, everybody involved they were phenomenal in handling the crisis”

Thankfully Thompson is currently conscious and awake after the incident.
