The Baker Mayfield era in Carolina could be coming to an end.
While Mayfield was out with an injury, former XFL MVP PJ Walker has flourished in the role of starting QB.

Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks likes what he sees from Mayfield.
“We’ve seen over the last couple of weeks, with (Walker) putting the time in … he’s shown that he can handle certain things,” Wilks said. “So I’m very pleased.”
Walker will start against next week according to Wilks despite the fact that Mayfield is completely healthy.
Panthers’ HC Steve Wilks told reporters today that P.J. Walker once again will start again vs. the Bengals.

Wilks said Mayfield has been supportive of Walker and has no issue with getting benched.
“Baker, to me, has been the ultimate, ultimate pro,” “As a guy who I know personally being around him and knowing that he is such a competitor. All these guys wanna play. And they should. I mean, that’s their mentality. But he’s supported PJ on and off the field. And to see him do what he did—just a testament to who he is as a person.”
Despite all the turmoil this season, the Panthers have looked like a better team with PJ Walker at the helm.
