Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty isn’t just the best running back in college football, he’s apparently also a rock-solid human being.

Jeanty, who quietly dominated for the Broncos in 2023, is off to an incredible start in 2024. He’s averaging 208 yards per game on the ground for Boise State, which sits at 5-1 and is currently the favorite to make the College Football Playoff out of Group of 5.

That puts him on pace to break Barry Sanders’ all-time rushing record of 2,628 yards in a season. He could also break Sanders’ record of 37 rushing touchdowns in a season. Though Sanders did so in just 11 games in 1988.

While Jeanty’s remarkable play has the spotlight back on the Broncos for the first time in several years, it’s what he’s doing off the field that’s perhaps most impress.

The junior from Frisco, Texas announced on Monday night that he is raising money for an endowed football scholarship in his name.

“I’m proud to be launching a campaign to raise money for an endowed scholarship in my name: the Ashton Jeanty Endowed Scholarship for Football,” Jeanty said on the campaign’s webpage.

“I’m asking for your support so that the legacy I have at Boise State is felt both on and off the field.

“You’ve seen me on The Blue breaking tackles, hurdling players and scoring touchdowns. My own success as a running back is made possible because of my team’s success. From the offensive line and my coaches to my friends and family, those around me clear obstacles so I can rush ahead and reach my goals.

“That’s the same legacy I’d like to have here at Boise State. I want the student-athletes that come after me to have the same support I’ve felt. I want to help clear obstacles for them, too.”

Boise State is home to many college football legends. There’s Ian Parker, Jared Zabransky and of course Kellen Moore. But Jeanty is making a compelling case that he should be the name you think of when you think about the Boise State Broncos.
