A high school basketball game in Seattle quickly turned ugly earlier this week when players started throwing punches during an all-out brawl. The incident involved the daughter of former NBA All-Star Brandon Roy.
Punishments have yet to be announced but they are surely on their way.
Garfield High School is located in the central district of Seattle. It enrolls approximately 1,500 students. West Seattle High School is located in the Genesee neighborhood of Seattle. It enrolls approximately 1,300 students. The two schools are separated by less than 10 miles so there is something of a cross-city rivalry between them.

Neither girl’s high school basketball program is particularly good this season. The Bulldogs are 4-4 and the Wildcats are 6-4. However, Garfield made a statement with an 11-point victory over West Seattle on Wednesday night. It was never particularly close but the visitors really pulled away in the second half.
Unfortunately, the game quickly turned violent at the final buzzer.
West Seattle tried to pick the pocket of Garfield’s point guard as she tried to dribble out the clock. The point guard did not appreciate the defensive pressure and threw the ball at her opponent. They immediately squabbled up, which led the Bulldogs to throw the first punch. Benches quickly cleared.
Both sides landed multiple haymakers before the coaches, parents, officials and school staffers could get onto the court to break things up. One girl even ended up on the ground with big blows raining down from above.
Amid all of the chaos, former No. 6 overall NBA Draft pick Brandon Roy ran onto the court to restrain his daughter, Mariah (No. 3). He had to hold her back from getting further involved with the nasty brawl.
