NBA fans could be witnessing the final episodes of TNT’s beloved ‘Inside The NBA.’
For the past 30 years, ‘Inside The NBA’ has become one of the most popular sports shows in TV history.
Unfortunately, the show may be coming to an end as TNT’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, appears to be losing rights to host NBA games to NBC.
According to a report from the Sports Business Journal, NBC made the NBA a massive $2.5 billion offer, and while Warner Bros. Discovery has the option to match, it’s unclear if they’re willing to pay that much to keep the NBA on its airwaves.
Comcast’s NBCUniversal is closing in on securing the third NBA package and likely unveil a “Basketball Night in America” telecast with its annual bid of $2.5 billion per year, sources tell Sports Business Journal.
Sources say Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of TNT, would have to increase its bid to as much as $2.8 billion per season to retain rights unless they attempt to settle the matter with litigation.
WBD exited its exclusive negotiating window with the NBA with the expectation they could match any bid from a rival company on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
Charles Barkley said last week that if TNT lost the NBA rights to NBC ‘Inside The NBA’ wouldn’t be the same moving forward because Ernie Johnson has already stated that he would not leave the company.
“I don’t know how that works without Ernie to be honest with you,” “And I can’t speak for NBC, I don’t know if they want all three of us…our show won’t be the same without Ernie. Ernie’s the most important person on our show.”
Charles Barkley told us that if TNT loses #NBA TV rights, he'll become a free agent. He's unsure about "Inside the NBA" moving to another network because the show wouldn't be the same without Ernie Johnson. Ernie has said he isn't leaving Turner.

Fans were not happy with the prospect of losing ‘Inside The NBA.’
Don’t do it @NBA, @NBC’s offer is not worth losing fans over missing the sheer entertainment that @NBAonTNT offers.
Nothing NBC can offer can match that. And you risk losing fans & viewership with its demise. https://t.co/M3TAbRYCO6

Losing inside the NBA is a mistake. Like a major one. https://t.co/P5hDzo83rg
