Iowa’s Caitlin Clark posted another productive night on Sunday in a matchup against Drake. The All-American racked up 35 points in a Hawkeyes win.
While Clark ignited fireworks on the floor, Iowa’s mascot provided the low point of the evening.
With the help of a hot dog gun, Herky the Hawk attempted to shoot some delicious treats into the crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Those attempts hilariously failed, with one being caught on camera.

We’ve seen similar food firing equipment around the Big Ten, most notably at Nebraska and Indiana.
While those programs seem to have perfected the trick, folks in the state of Iowa continue to struggle.

Drake Bulldogs fans trolled the Iowa mascot after the misfire, though one front row attendee secured an in-game meal. That dinner was paired with an incredible show as Iowa’s superstar went off in a historic performance.
Caitlin Clark redeems Iowa after hot dog gun fail.
Clark was her typical self on the court over the weekend, scoring 35 points (on 64% shooting!) while dishing out 10 assists. She nearly had more than just a double-double, tallying six boards and seven steals, too.
Clark became the record holder for most 30-point games in women’s D1 history with that production, adding to her already stocked trophy case.

For the year, the guard is averaging 31 points a night, getting the Hawkeyes off to a 4-1 start. Iowa reached the national championship game last season. Clark hopes to take it one step further this year.
