President Donald Trump has reportedly changed his mind about attending Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots after his inner circle warned him he’d be intensely booed. Super Bowl LX will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8.

While President Donald Trump attended the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Indiana Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Monday, January 19, reports indicate he’ll be skipping the Super Bowl on the other side of the country this Sunday.

President Donald Trump has reportedly been talked out of attending Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 8 after being told by his staff that he’d be intensely booed

“Some of his administration officials and advisers had privately assessed that if Trump were to attend Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, the crowd at the stadium would likely aggressively boo him,” reported Zeteo.

“In recent months, several aides and advisers to the president quietly determined that the chances were rather high of Trump getting booed ‘big league,’ at the Super Bowl, in the words of one White House official. Such a moment would instantly create a wealth of viral video clips and media coverage that administration officials would prefer to avoid.”

A knee jerk reaction might be to say, “Well, it’s libbed-out San Francisco — of course he’s going to be booed.” But a Super Bowl’s populous has nothing to do with the city its held in given the routinely astronomical price of tickets.

The current average price for a Super Bowl LX ticket, for example, is $9,338, per ESPN Research, which means that the crowd at any given Super Bowl isn’t comprised of San Franciscans or Floridians or Texans — but rich people. Trump’s current net approval rating, according to The Economist, is -15 (41% approve, 56% approve), with recent incidents such as ICE murdering American citizens and the continually struggling economy hurting his approval.

Given Trump’s relationship with Pats owner Rober Kraft and that he made a public statement about Bill Belichick being snubbed from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he’ll likely be rooting for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, who head into the matchup as 3.5-point underdogs against the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks.
