While Blake Lively’s new movie It Ends With Us has been good business at the box office, a sequel is reportedly unlikely due to personal vendettas.

According to reports, although It Ends With Us has grossed over $250 million at the global box office (after being produced for just $25 million), a sequel to the film probably won’t happen due to the feud between Blake Lively and the film’s director Justin Baldoni, whose company Wayfarer would have to greenlight the film.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Lively believed Baldoni fat-shamed her and kissed her too long when filming an intimate scene. Baldoni directed It Ends With Us and stars in the film as Lively’s character’s abusive boyfriend.

It Ends With Us is based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name and has a sequel titled It Starts With Us, which was released in 2022.

“Neither Baldoni nor Lively have addressed the chatter publicly, but multiple sources confirm to Variety that the bad blood between the two is very real and the relationship may not be salvageable. Yet none of those sources could articulate any legitimate transgressions from either party.”

“This is uncharted territory, and nobody has any idea of what a sequel could look like,” says a source familiar with the situation. “There’s probably no world where these two will work together again.”

In the wake of the reports about him and Lively, Baldoni reportedly hired the PR crisis manager who represented Johnny Depp during the Amber Heard trial. Lively has also taken a PR hit as a result of the scandal, with some of her past comments being recontextualized in a new light.

Lively has also brought unwanted attention to herself by revealing that her husband Ryan Reynolds helped write one of the film’s pivotal scenes, which might be a violation of the Writers Guild of America.
