IU Indy basketball coach Paul Corsaro was fired this offseason amid accusations of player mistreatment, though the specifics of his wrongdoing has been left largely unexplained. The head coach has asked the school for clarity as he seeks to reestablish his reputation. To this point, he hasn’t gotten it.

As is the case with most coaching changes in the current era of college sports, a transfer exodus has followed Corsaro’s dismissal. The coach has been seen celebrating those exits online.

Corsaro just wrapped up Year 1 as the Jaguars‘ hoops coach after having previously coached at the D2 University of Indianapolis. He brought with him a handful of players from his previous roster while also nabbing some talent in the portal.

IU Indy went 10-22 in Corsaro’s debut. It was the program’s best season in four years after going a combined 14-79 since 2021.

The new head coach was set to continue momentum after retaining 60% of his production for the 2025-26 season. Instead, he was let go.

Paul Corsaro was fired in mid-May following an investigation by the school. His conduct was the reason for the probe as the school said six former players raised allegations.

“[Corsaro’s] behavior did not meet the university’s values and standards regarding the treatment of student-athletes.”

Again, mistreatment was the root issue, but the specifics of the termination remain unclear. Corsaro retaliated by calling out the school’s lack of transparency. He questioned motivations after the fact.

The situation is head-scratching in a number of ways. Most notably, Corsaro was not only able to lure players he allegedly mistreated to from his old university to his new school, but he then convinced the majority of last year’s players to return – some of which had already entered the transfer portal.

The school hasn’t been open on the details. It’s keeping information close to the vest in an attempt to protect the accusers. As a result, everyone’s been left in the dark!

Paul Corsaro celebrated his players this week.

The coach took a break from attacking his former employer to offer congratulations to two players that have now found new college basketball homes.

DeSean Goode and Sean Craig committed to new schools this week. Corsaro responded to each announcement.

Goode landed at Robert Morris while Craig is moving onto the MAC to play for Toledo. The latter even offered a thank you reply for Corsaro. It’s one of, if not the first public interactions between the coach and his old players.

Craig was one of the players that followed Corsaro from the University of Indianapolis. It seems their relationship remains strong amid the allegations.

Craig and Goode are just two of a number of players to hit the portal this offseason. IU Indy might be starting over once again in 2025-26. Corsaro doesn’t appear too upset by the exits.
