When he’s on the court and staying focused, Memphis Grizzlies star player Ja Morant is as good as any NBA player in the league. The superstar is quite possibly the hardest player to contain off the dribble in the entire league, and the Grizzlies are a real threat to beat anyone when he’s on the court.

But, too often he’s hurting the Grizzlies with antics, whether on the court or off the court. Thursday’s game against the Sacramento Kings was no different, as Morant was ejected from the game after showing up an official after a call he disagreed with.

Last season was pretty much a lost year for Ja Morant. He was suspended for the first 25 games of the season due to gun-related incidents, and the Grizzlies got off to a terrible start to the season. When he returned, he played just nine games before injuring his shoulder in practice and missed the rest of the year.

The one positive about Morant missing essentially all of last year was it let some of the team’s young players develop their offensive games. That’s paid off this year, as Morant is averaging only 22 points per game, but the team entered Thursday’s game against Sacramento at 14-8. Morant’s 8.6 assists per game this year are a career-high.

But, he’s got to keep his emotions in check, something he did not do on Thursday. Take a look.

Given the fact that he already had a technical foul, he simply can’t react like that. Maybe he was frustrated because he was just 2-8 from the floor, but Ja Morant can’t put himself in a position to be ejected there.

That being said, he did have an argument. This was a terrible call.

Ultimately, the Grizzlies won, 115-110. But, Ja Morant needs to do a better job controlling his emotions.
