The Seahawks and the Patriots were listed as massive long shots to win the Super Bowl at the start of the current season. However, one of them will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, and the sister of New England fullback Jack Westover made some serious dough after they both punched their ticket to The Big Game.
The Ravens, Bills, and Chiefs entered the 2025 NFL season as the odds-on favorites to win Super Bowl LX at +700.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, were sitting at +6000 in the wake of a campaign where they missed the playoffs despite their 10-7 record. The Patriots were facing even longer odds at +8000, which was pretty understandable when you consider they went 4-13 during Jerod Mayo’s first and only year as their head coach.
However, both of those squads firmly surpassed the expectations that were set for them, as they each finished the regular season with a 14-3 record before punching their ticket to Super Bowl LX.
That ended up being a very fortunate development for a Washington native whose brother plays for the Patriots, as she got a massive return on a bet she made before the season got underway.
Jack Westover’s sister made $18,000 on a $5 wager after betting the Patriots and Seahawks would play each other in the Super Bowl
Patriots fullback Jack Westover was born and raised in Washington and played tight end for the state’s flagship university before the Seahawks signed the former Huskie, who wasn’t selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.
He was cut before playing a snap in Seattle and ended up landing a spot on the practice squad in New England. The 6’2″, 245-pound 26-year-old made his debut with the Patriots last season before switching from TE to fullback, although he’s primarily contributed on the special teams front during their run to the Super Bowl.
During a recent interview with KJR 93.3, Westover said his sister drew inspiration from their upbringing and his current home to place a tiny bet on the Patriots facing off against the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, which apparently came with odds of around +359900.
As the football noted, that turned out to be a very good call, saying:
“I think it was during camp she happened to throw $5 on a Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl matchup. The payout happened to be $18,000. She has her second baby on the way, so she’s happy about that.”
Must be nice.
