Jackson Arnold started dating his girlfriend, Skyler Marshall, in high school. He ultimately left her behind at Oklahoma when he transferred to Auburn so Saturday’s college football game present a unique conundrum.
Was she going to root for her school, her boyfriend or a little bit of both?
As it would turn out, it was not a difficult decision. Marshall had no problem picking her college football allegiance for a matchup of past and present.
Jackson Arnold did not receive a warm welcome in his return to Oklahoma.
Arnold first arrived to Oklahoma as a five-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2023. He spent most of his freshman year on the bench behind Dillon Gabriel. His first year as the starter was a disaster.
The 6-foot-1, 219-pound quarterback threw for less than 200 yards on a completion rate of less than 60% against Houston in Week 2. Arnold was later benched for true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. after he completed just seven of 16 pass attempts for 54 yards with an interception against Tennesse.
Although the Sooners later made the switch back, they finished at 6-7. Arnold went 5-4 as the starter.
He ultimately entered the transfer portal after his sophomore season and committed to Auburn.
The Tigers traveled to Norman at 2-0 to begin SEC play. Their quarterback was greeted by boos and chants of “Jackson Arnold sucks” from his former fanbase.

I don’t understand the boos. Oklahoma encouraged Arnold to leave. It was more their chose than his. Mutual at best.
Arnold doesn’t care. He held a finger to his ear as if to say “I can’t hear you.”
However, the true junior signal-caller will be able to hear them because of the tight sidelines at the Palace on the Prairie. Arnold warned Hugh Freeze about the structural challenges earlier in the week. Freeze let him know he was right during pregame.

80,000+ Oklahoma fans will be on top of Auburn throughout the entire game. One of them will not.
Skyler Marshall switched sides!
Skyler Marshall followed her star quarterback boyfriend to college after high school but she did not go with him when he left Oklahoma for Auburn. She is currently a Chi-O in Norman.
Even though Marshall pays tuition at the University of Oklahoma, she is not rooting for the Sooners on Saturday! Jackson Arnold’s girlfriend is wearing Tennessee Auburn orange for him.
I fully expected Marshall to wear Sooners crimson with a subtle nod to her boyfriend but it appears as though she does not care. She wants Jackson Arnold to win at all costs. Go Tigers.
