For six rounds, Jake Paul ran, hid, ducked, dipped, dodged, and generally did everything possible to avoid getting knocked out in his boxing match against former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Eventually, however, the inevitable happened as Joshua put Paul down on the canvas for the knockout at the 1:31 mark of the sixth round.

The result should come as no surprise. Joshua is a world-class boxer with several big-name wins on his resume, while Paul is an amateur YouTuber who has built up a reputation beating up smaller fighters and old men.

This time, he was squaring off with an in-shape Joshua, who had more than a 30-pound weight advantage as well. But before being knocked out and allegedly having his jaw broken, Paul tried every trick in the book to try and survive eight rounds in the ring with Joshua.

Jake Paul Wouldn’t Stop Trying Takedowns On Anthony Joshua

Early in the fight, it was clear that Paul was trying to keep as much distance between himself and Joshua. That was wise. But eventually, Joshua began to cut off the ring.

Then, Paul began to clinch with Joshua, also a smart move. But the much larger Joshua began to wear on Paul. So, in a last resort, Paul began to shoot takedowns … and he never stopped.

In just 5.5 rounds, Paul shot a remarkable Paul shot an incredible 13 takedown attempts against Joshua, while landing just 16 total punches.

At one point, Paul even appeared to fake being hit below the belt in order to get time to rest. Now, the YouTube star is celebrating the fight as a victory that showed his toughness.

That’s certainly one way to spin it.

But for anybody watching with a clear head, it was nothing short of an embarrassment that never should’ve happened to begin with.
