Nate Diaz is set to face off against Jake Paul in the boxing ring in August. However, things are a bit dicey now after his altercation in New Orleans.

For that reason, it could prevent him from taking on Paul later this year. However, it appears a backup plan might just be underway.

According to MMA Fighting, KSI reached out to Jake Paul and offered to be a potential replacement in case Diaz is a no-go come August.

Paul immediately agreed and provided the parameters of the fight for KSI to meet.

So, it appears Paul officially has a backup plan in place for August.

Even so, Nate Diaz, in the middle of his arrest drama, couldn’t help but react to Jake Paul and KSI’s fight plans. Here’s what he had to say, per MMA Fighting.

Diaz certainly doesn’t like the idea that Jake Paul is setting up a backup plan. But can you really blame Paul?

For now, the fight between the YouTube star-turned-boxer and UFC superstar is still technically set for August 2023. However, due to the circumstances, it’s smart of KSI to offer himself as a possible replacement in case Nate Diaz is a no-go.

With that said, keep an eye out for more updates regarding Diaz. Depending how his current situation plays out will dictate what happens later this year.

So, fight fans should be prepared for anything once August starts rolling around.
