Jake Paul may have issues with Gervonta Davis, but he’s praising the boxing star ahead of his big fight against Lamont Roach on Saturday night.

Hours before the fight, Paul said he was tuning in because he respects Davis, who has been critical of the Saudi takeover of boxing, for “standing on his own” and “representing America” while many boxers have gone overseas to fight.

Last month, Paul bashed Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez for signing a deal with the Saudis instead of fighting him.

“Canelo Alvarez ducked me Jake Paul and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil. it’s not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring. I’m the new face of boxing.”

Earlier this week, Davis criticized boxers for going to Saudi Arabia to fight and take pictures with Saudi backer Turki Alalshikh.
