Jake Paul Teases UFC Debut Against Sean O’Malley After Mike Tyson Fight Was Delayed

Is a UFC debut on the horizon for Jake Paul?

The YouTuber turned boxer teased a potential first-career MMA fight on Twitter Wednesday when he challenged reigning bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley.

O’Malley initially proposed the fight between he and Paul in order to “save” UFC 303. The current UFC 303 main event is scheduled to feature Conor McGregor making his UFC return against Michael Chandler. But there are currently serious doubts about that fight after the UFC canceled a press conference in Dublin just hours before it was scheduled to begin.

“In consultation with the UFC, today’s press conference was canceled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control,” McGregor said on social media. “I apologize to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon.”

Jake Paul’s UFC Debut Isn’t Likely To Come Against Sean O’Malley

But now O’Malley is ready to step up to the plate. As is Paul.

There’s just a few major problems.

For one, Paul’s previous boxing matches were all at 190 pounds. He bulked up even more to face Tyson at heavyweight. O’Malley competes at 135 pounds.

So unless the UFC creates an openweight division, it ain’t happening.

Oh, and Paul has literally never had an MMA fight. He is not going to have his first one in the UFC against one of the best fighters on the planet.

O’Malley isn’t one to back down from a challenge. So the size difference likely wouldn’t be an issue if it were up to him.

But it’s not up to him.

Paul and O’Malley can build hype for the fight all they want, but they both know it’s never going to happen.

Hopefully, it just moves us one step closer to the O’Malley-Merab Dvalishvili fight that everybody wants to see.
