The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson made a ton of money in Texas. On Friday night, Paul finally faced off against Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after months of delay.

Despite the long delay, the fight appeared to have piqued everyone’s interest and set a record in sales. According to Most Valuable Promotions, the Paul/Tyson fight sold $17.8 million in ticket sales, more than double the previous record set by Canelo Alvarez.

“Paul vs. Tyson gate has surpassed $17.8 million, nearly double the previous Texas gate record for combat sports in both boxing and MMA, obliterating Canelo’s record of $9 million. Paul vs. Tyson’s gate is also higher than any non-Las Vegas UFC gate in history, other than McGregor vs Alvarez in NYC per public records” said MVP in a statement.

Currently, MVP claims that over 70,000 fans will be in attendance but have yet to release official numbers.

It will be interesting to see how many viewers will watch at home streaming on NetFlix.
