Jalen Carter Appeared To Violate NFL Gambling Rules During Tense Pregame Altercation With Jared Verse

Jalen Carter Jared Verse Gambling Violation Taunt Eagles Fans Bet

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter did not appreciate how Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Jared Verse approached his pregame warmup on Sunday afternoon. He accosted the NFC Divisional Round opponent and offered him the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is.

In doing so, the monstrous 23-year-old may have committed an NFL rules violation.

Verse did not shy away from the Philadelphia fanbase in the week leading up to Sunday. The first-round rookie expressed his hatred toward the Eagles and those who root for them during a candid interview with the Los Angeles Times.

They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans […]

When I see that green and white, I hate it. I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.

Saquon Barkley thought that was a bad idea.

Sean McVay did not seem to have an issue with it.

He told his truth. I’m riding with the Rams.

Philly fans flooded Verse’s social media accounts with hundreds, if not thousands of comments. They made it abundantly clear that he is now public enemy No. 1 in the City of (not-so) Brotherly Love.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound outside linebacker embraced the hate prior to kickoff on Sunday. Verse took a lap around the field to a chorus of boos and raised a hand to his ear as if to say, “I can’t hear you.”

Carter was not as jovial. He walked over to his opponent and interrupted the shenanigans.

If you listen closely, it sounds like Carter challenged Verse to a bet.

This is where things could get murky. The NFL’s gambling policy explicitly states that players are not allowed to gamble. They cannot bet on sports, casino or card games at the team facility, while traveling for a road game or staying at a team hotel. It is very illegal to bet on the NFL.

Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers were forced to undergo “multiple education training sessions” on the league’s gambling policy because the former LSU teammates made a $10,000 bet on who would win the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award. That is against the rules.

The proposed wager between Jared Verse and Jalen Carter would exceed $10K. Is that also a violation of the gambling policy? Or does it not count because the latter declined the offer from the former?

It will be curious to see if the NFL chooses to punish Carter and/or Verse in the same way it did Daniels and Nabers. Either way, there is no money on the line because they never agreed to terms.
