Jalen Reagor is no longer a member of the New England Patriots. He was released from the practice squad on Tuesday after openly criticizing the organization on social media.

Life comes at you fast…

Reagor is already one of the biggest busts in NFL history as a fifth-year player. The former TCU wide receiver was drafted No. 21 overall by the Eagles in 2020 and has yet to eclipse the 400-yard mark in any of his first four seasons in the league.

  • 2020, Eagles: 31 catches, 396 yards, one touchdown
  • 2021, Eagles: 33 catches, 299 yards, two touchdowns
  • 2022, Vikings: eight catches, 104 yards, one touchdown
  • 2023, Patriots: seven catches, 138 yards

Philadelphia traded Jalen Reagor to Minnesota for a seventh-round pick after he muffed a pair of punts during the playoffs. Minnesota cut him one year later so New England signed him to its practice squad.

The Patriots are 1-1 in 2024. They beat the Bengals in Week 1 and lost the Seahawks by three in Week 2.

Despite the fairly encouraging results, their passing game has been underwhelming.

Tight end Hunter Henry leads the team with 10 catches for 127 yards. Backup tight end Austin Hooper is second on the team with three catches for 36 yards. Each of the team’s top three wide receivers combined for less than 75 total yards on just nine catches.

Jalen Reagor expressed his frustration with his lack of usage on Tuesday.

He shared a popular meme of a luxury sports car parked outside of a mobile home on Instagram. It implied that New England was wasting his talent on the practice squad while struggling to throw the ball. Reagor is the Bugatti. The Patriots are the run-down house.

Not long thereafter, it was announced that Reagor was released from the team all together.

The organization did not indicate whether the post on Instagram had anything to do with its decision to cut him loose, but you can read in between the lines. Jalen Reagor is now a free agent because he expressed his frustration on a public platform and clearly was not playing well enough in practice to be promoted. The Patriots said good riddance!
