Sunday was a dream for the Philadelphia Eagles. They dominated Super Bowl LIX from start to finish, hopping out to an incredible 34-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs en route to a 40-22 lead.

But, Philadelphia Eagles pass-rusher Jalyx Hunt nearly avoided disaster. His celebration after a huge play came within inches of clocking a referee in the face.

Hunt has been a revelation for the Eagles this year. The third-rounder out of Houston Christian improved as a situational pass-rusher all year, and was dominant in the Super Bowl. He had 5 pressures, 4 hurries, and a half-sack.

But, it’s what happened after a big Jalyx Hunt play that nearly caused huge issues for both Hunt and the Eagles. Take a look at this.

This would’ve been a complete accident. But, there would’ve had to have been consequences, right? It would’ve at least been a personal foul penalty, and depending on how it was adjucated, Hunt could’ve been ejected. That would’ve been unfair, as it was a total accident. But, obviously, referees have to be protected.

Thankfully for everyone involved, disaster was averted here, as Jalyx Hunt barely missed umpire Mike Morton here.

It makes sense that it worked out for Philadelphia. Pretty much everything the Eagles did on Sunday worked out as the franchise captured its second Super Bowl victory in its history.
