Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was frustrated on the field Sunday as his team battled the Kansas City Chiefs. The pass catcher was seen exploding on an official after being taken to the ground by a KC defender.

Chase believed the tackle to be dirty. Replays showed that wasn’t the case. It didn’t stop him from shouting at anyone who’d listen, including head coach Zac Taylor!

The reaction came in the fourth quarter of action with the Bengals trailing 23-22. On 2nd-and-11, Chase hauled in a short pass from Joe Burrow before quickly turning to advance the ball up field.

Chiefs defensive back Trent McDuffie wrapped Chase up, making an open field tackle to prevent a first down. After the fact, the wideout exploded.

Ja’Marr Chase wasn’t happy with the takedown. It appeared he wanted a flag thrown for a potential hip-drop tackle, which was removed from play this past offseason.

A flag wasn’t thrown, and he let the officials hear his displeasure.

Ja’Marr Chase wants to avoid injury.

For that reason, his anger continued on the sidelines after he was awarded a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty call. The double whammy!

Chase is currently in a contract battle with the Bengals, which explains his reaction to a potentially dangerous hit. An injury would be a hit to his ambitions of being the NFL’s highest paid wide receiver.

He viewed the no-call as a potential threat to his future! Unfortunately, it didn’t appear he had a leg to stand on as the takedown was clean.

The unsportsmanlike penalty wouldn’t prove too costly for Cincinnati as they’d later add a field goal to take a 25-23 lead. Unfortunately, they’d lose on the final play as Harrison Butker kicked a game-winning field goal with time expiring.

Ja’Marr Chase finished the contest with four catches for 35 yards.
