Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has been committed to the Georgia football program for seven months. He is the headliner in a Top 5 recruiting class.
Reports of a decommitment surfaced in early December. He’s reportedly flipped to Vanderbilt.
Mystery now surrounds his commitment status. Recruiting sites have already begun listing him in the Commodores’ 2026 cycle.
The passer, meanwhile, suggests no decision has been made.
Who is Jared Curtis?
The signal caller is considered the No. 1 overall player in the ’26 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Curtis plays for Nashville Christian in Tennessee. He is one of the most coveted prospects in the nation.
His recruitment initially involved a slew of SEC suitors, as well as a pair of highly touted Big Ten affiliates. In February, he trimmed his list of finalists to Georgia and Oregon.
In May, he pulled the trigger to become a Bulldog.
Much has changed in the seven months since, particularly at a nearby school. He is now giving Vanderbilt a legitimate look.
Diego Pavia believes Curtis is a Commodore.
Recent success has lifted the program into recruiting consideration. Pavia has the team sitting at 10-2 and a threat to make the College Football Playoff field.
The veteran quarterback is also in the Heisman discussion alongside a handful of other college football passers.
Pavia was recently asked about his chances to win the prestigious award. He leaked possible recruiting intel in the process.

When asked about the Heisman hype, Pavia said, “They need to look at stats, numbers, and tape.” He then mentioned Curtis by name in reference to the future of Vanderbilt football.
“We’ll find out [if Vanderbilt can make the playoff without me] with Jared Curtis,” Pavia stated.
At the time, it appeared a throwaway comment used to stir the recruiting pot. A few hours later, it transformed into confirmation of a flip.
Did Vanderbilt steal the nation’s No. 1 QB?
Recruiting sites would lead you to believe it’s true. It is currently being reported that Jared Curtis has made a decision to join the Commodores’ recruiting class.
The quarterback, however, immediately denied the insinuation. He claims that he’s not spoken to either school about a flip.
“Don’t know where all this is coming from. Haven’t had a chance to talk to either school yet,” he wrote on X. “I’ll keep y’all posted.”
What is the truth? There are those that believe Curtis wasn’t ready for the news to leak. Maybe he hadn’t been able to inform the Georgia staff of his plans quite yet.
The Bulldogs are hopeful they can hang onto his commitment. Vandy, meanwhile, looks to steal his pledge.
Whatever the case, Curtis’s denial hasn’t stopped sites from running the story. It seems most believe he’ll be a Commodore in 2026. It will be interesting to follow his next move.
Update: Jared Curtis has signed with Vanderbilt.
