Jared Curtis left Georgia fans conflicted during the first high school football game of his senior season. The five-star quarterback prospect looked every bit the part but he also put himself in harm’s way.

Bulldogs fans love to see his enthusiasm but they would much prefer to see him go out of bounds.

Many top prospects in high school football make business decisions during this senior seasons. That was very much not the case in Tennessee on Friday night, which creates something of a catch 22, if you will.

Who is Jared Curtis?

Curtis ranks as the No. 4 player at his position in the college football recruiting Class of 2026 behind Tennessee commit Faizon Brandon, Houston commit Keisean Henderson and Texas commit Dia Bell. The University of Georgia’s quarterback of the future also ranks as the No. 11 prospect overall.

He showed why he is deserving of the five-star rating during Nashville Christian School’s dominant 28-point victory over Davidson Academy on Friday night.

The 6-foot-3.5, 225-pound signal-caller threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns. His first throw of the year was an absolute rocket.

This was perhaps his best completion of the game:

And he can scoot!

It was a great night for Jared Curtis. It was an even better night for the Eagles.

GET OUT OF BOUNDS!

Georgia fans were thrilled to see their future signal-caller go all-out for his team. Some top high school football prospects who are already committed to a P4 program choose to mail it in as a senior, especially against weaker competition in the early season.

That is not the case with Curtis. He is not going to take his foot off of the gas.

However, the Bulldogs are begging him to avoid unnecessary big hits in the future.

Curtis chose not to get out of bounds on a big run down the sideline during the second half. He instead decided to lower his shoulder and lay the lumber.

As cool as it was to see a big quarterback like Jared Curtis blow up a defensive back, that kind of thing is not going to fly in the SEC. His head is going to roll if he goes one-on-one against college defenders.

It is refreshing to see a top recruit play as hard as a senior as he did before he committed but, man, go ahead and get out of bounds. There is no reason to risk an injury for a few extra yards in Week 1!
