Week 15 of the NFL season marks the beginning of the playoffs for fantasy football players across the globe.
But some players who were preparing for the postseason received a rude awakening this week when the NFL made a stat correction that led to several players being bounced from their league’s playoffs.
The NFL awarded a fumble to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff on Wednesday.
The ruling came after a botched exchanged between Goff and center Graham Glasgow. Glasgow was initially ruled to have fumbled.

Goff lost two points (in conventional scoring leagues) as a result. Thus changing the results of games across several leagues and leading some players to miss the playoffs entirely.
This happened to a lot of folks I think. Anyone else lose (or gain?) a playoff spot because of the Jared Goff fumble stat correction? #FantasyLife https://t.co/vNMshE97TG

Now, rules are rules. But the announces came just about 24 hours before the start of most leagues’ playoffs on Thursday night.
“I gained a spot in the playoffs, but didn’t realize it until halftime of Thursday Night,” one fan said. “I lost the last spot Monday night when I lost by less than 2 points and the other team won a different game by less than 2 points.”
As it turns out, Goff’s stat correction wasn’t even the only one this week to affect playoff fields.
“There were 3 separate changes to the playoffs to a team in my league,” another fan wrote. “They got in on a crazy monday night performance, then lost to a stat correction for Packers D, then got back in when it was reversed, then eventually lost out when the Goff stat correction came in.”
And that, friends, is why fantasy football is the devil.
