Jason Kelce appeared to take the chance to rest his eyes when he attended a Taylor Swift concert in Miami last week, but he’s emphatically dismissed the notion he fell asleep during the show after a picture snapped by a former teammate went viral.
On October 18th, Taylor Swift kicked off the second leg of the Eras Tour with a three-show run at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Travis Kelce wasn’t able to attend due to the whole “making a living playing football for the Chiefs” thing, but Jason Kelce made the trek on Friday night alongside his wife Kylie and two of their daughters in addition to his mom Donna.
Jason has kept pretty busy since retiring from the NFL following his 13th and final season as a member of the Eagles last year, as he’s joined Monday Night Countdown, continues to co-host the New Heights podcast with Travis, and has his hands full as the father of three young kids.
As a result, I think it was fair to give him a pass for seemingly taking a nap in the middle of the aforementioned show, as he appeared to be doing exactly that in a photo that was shared by former Eagles tackle Beau Allen and quickly made the rounds online.
However, he’s denied that’s actually the case.
During the most recent installment of New Heights, Jason disputed he was actually sleeping while calling attention to a subtle detail to support his case.
Here’s what he had to say about the matter:
“I’m standing, I’m holding Ellie, I feel like I’m kind of in a fishbowl. Everybody’s staring at me, so I just sit down. I’m dancing with Ellie, Ellie goes over to Kylie, and then I’m just sitting here and just feeling it.
I’m tapping my thigh and I’m just in the moment listening to the song, and then, all of a sudden, I got on Twitter and I see this f–king picture. I’m like ‘Dude, what the f–k?’ I’m not even sleeping and I can prove it to you. There’s evidence in this photo that I’m not sleeping.
My hand is hovering. You can’t sleep with your hand hovering above your knee. It’s impossible.”
It’s hard to argue with that.
