Most people put a ton of thought and effort into dreaming up the perfect marriage proposal, and while Eagles center Jason Kelce may have had an elaborate plan in mind when he geared up to pop the question to his wife Kylie, he was forced to pivot a bit thanks to her knowledge of his bathroom habits.

Kelce first crossed paths with Kylie when they matched on Tinder, and they’ve had three daughters together since tying the knot in 2018 (including the child they welcomed into the world just a couple of weeks after he played in Super Bowl LVII).

Kylie served as a special guest co-host during a recent episode of the New Heights podcast (the show Kelce hosts with his brother—and Chiefs tight end—Travis) where she and her husband discussed their relationship, which included a story about him falling asleep at a bar 45 minutes into their first date after getting too drunk (which is pretty on-brand for the big man).

Thankfully, she was willing to give him a second chance, and the couple soon found themselves in a flourishing relationship.

Things eventually progressed to the point where Kelce decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Kylie, and being the gentleman he is, he made sure to ask her parents for permission before they got engaged.

However, as they recalled, the exact manner in which he handled that part of the process led to him blowing up his own spot:

Jason Kelce: I wanted to get it done before training camp and be engaged. So there were some scheduling reasons. I couldn’t figure out how to inconspicuously go into the house…I said, “Ky, I’m sorry, I gotta go take a s*** right now.”

Kylie Kelce: He went inside. He was only in there for maybe two minutes and I said, “Jason, go back in there, and go to the bathroom. I know you didn’t just go in there and take a s***. It usually takes you 20 minutes. That was not long enough.”

And then he said, ‘I know this isn’t the most romantic way to do this, but can you get out of the car?’

At least it worked out in the end.
