Kentucky basketball player Jaxson Robinson met with reporters this week as he took part in the SEC’s Media Day event. The senior threw some shade the way of Eric Musselman in the process.
The two once worked together as members of the Arkansas basketball program. That relationship seems to have soured on Robinson’s end!
The 2024 season will be Robinson’s third in the SEC, which come with three different schools.
He signed with Texas A&M out of high school before transferring to Arkansas ahead of his sophomore season. After spending the last two years at BYU, he followed head coach Mark Pope to Kentucky.
Robinson blossomed into a major contributor with the Cougars, but his previous stints in the SEC were largely a growing experience.
He appeared in 14 games as an Aggie, and 16 as a Hog, combining to make eight starts.
While at Arkansas, it appeared his role would continue growing as the team’s season progressed. After appearing in seven of the Razorbacks’ first 11 contests of the season, he was named a starter in the first three SEC matchups on the slate.
Unfortunately, he was largely unproductive, logging four turnovers to three made shots on 21% shooting.
He was soon reassigned to bench duty where he’d remain for the remainder of the Hogs’ Elite Eight season, failing to log more than five minutes of action in his final six matchups.
He did not play in the NCAA Tournament.
It seems Eric Musselman’s decision to remove him from the court still sticks with him!
He was asked about his time at Arkansas on Tuesday, and while he was complimentary of his former teammates, he had little to say about his old coach!

Crickets!
Despite the coach’s NBA and NCAA resume, the guard says he learned nothing. It’s clear he didn’t think benching him was the smartest decision.
While Jaxson Robinson still holds animosity towards Eric Musselman, he won’t have the opportunity to show him what he missed out on in the 2024-25 season.
Musselman bolted for USC over the offseason and was quickly replaced by John Calipari. That move ultimately led Mark Pope to Lexington, and in turn, brought Robinson back to the SEC.
