The Washington Commanders have been looking for a true franchise quarterback for a long time. Outside of the rookie season for Robert Griffin III twelve years ago, there hasn’t been a time in the 21st century where Commanders fans were sure they had their guy.

After the Commanders went on the road and stunned the Cincinnati Bengals, 38-33, on Monday Night Football behind a huge performance by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, it’s safe to say they have their guy. D

Daniels flashed signs of being a franchise quarterback in the team’s first two games, not turning the ball over and racking up over 530 total yards of offense while beating the Giants in week 2.

But, Monday was an entirely different story. It wasn’t filled with flashes of greatness. It was simply great.

Daniels was a remarkable 21-23 through the air for 253 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He added 39 yards on 12 carries on the ground for a touchdown, as well. But, the stats don’t tell the true story of just how good he was. Take a look at some highlights.

That second touchdown pass, with the game on the line and pressure right in his face, might be one of the best throws of the NFL season so far. Remarkable.

Safe to say that Commanders fans have found their guy.

“Dear Jayden Daniels I cant believe i ever begged for Drake maye over you, it was the biggest mistake of my life. U are the best football player to ever touch turf. I love u @JayD__5″ one fan said.

“We FINALLY have a franchise quarterback and he’s perfect. I never thought being a Washington fan could ever be this fun. Jayden Daniels for president. What a time to be alive. I’m SO HAPPY” another fan said.

Enjoy, it Commanders fans. It’s been a long time coming.
