Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders have gone two straight games in which they scored points on every single offensive drive — no punts, no turnovers, no turnovers-on-downs. Daniels, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at LSU last year, is a rookie, having been selected #2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The recent efficiency of Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ offense is even more incredible when put into context, as their two-straight games with points on every drive is something that Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning have also only done twice COMBINED, as noted by the NFL on CBS.

After losing their first game of the regular season to the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Commanders have won two straight games and are now tied for first place in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles at 2-1. Their most recent win over the Cincinnati Bengals was their most impressive victory of the season, as they went into Cincy and hung 38 points, with Daniels making standout play after standout play.

With the NFC East looking like it’ll be a middling division this season — neither the Dallas Cowboys nor Philadelphia Eagles look elite, while the Giants are expected to be among the worst teams in the league — the Commanders could have a chance at competing for the playoffs in their first season with rookie signal-caller Jayden Daniels and new head coach Dan Quinn, who previously served as defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys and coached the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl in 2017.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2019 to 2023, deserves immense credit for how he has the Commanders’ offense operating as Daniels is now looking like the favorite to win Rookie of the Year while also leading an offense that’s currently scoring points at a rate rarely seen in the NFL.

The Commanders will look to continue their surprisingly promising start to the 2024 season when they take on the Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday.
