Jaylen Brown Responds After Getting Caught Saying That Bronny James Isn’t NBA-Level

Because he isn’t with Team USA at the Olympics, NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown has some free time this summer and used it to take in a Summer League game between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers’ preseason is particularly notable as the team recently drafted LeBron James’ son Bronny James despite an underwhelming freshman season at USC.

While it’s still extremely early in the process, Bronny has yet to quiet his doubters with any of his Summer League performances, one of whom appears to be Brown, who appeared caught telling girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick and WNBA star Angel Reese that “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.”

Brown clearly got wind of the fact that he was going viral on Twitter, as he later posted a response saying:

“It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the NBA it reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth,” Brown tweeted in the hours after going viral.

It’s certainly funny to imagine that Brown decided to address the viral video after getting a call from LeBron James, who is essentially the Vito Corleone of the NBA these days. LeBron has made virtually everyone within the Lakers organization bend to his will in order to get Bronny on the team — now he’s turning his sights on his colleagues to make sure they fall in line, too.

In the matchup against the Celtics, Bronny continued to struggle to make the transition to the NBA level as he scored just 2 points despite playing nearly 25 minutes. He even shot an air ball from the 3-point line, which puts him 0-15 on 3-point attempts during Summer League play.
