Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss also happens to be a co-owner of Women Of Wrestling (WOW). And she thinks Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham would be a great addition to the wrestling organization’s roster.

Her interest in Sophie Cunningham comes after Women Of Wrestling co-founder and co-owner Dave McLane told the audience at San Diego Comic Con how much he liked the feisty WNBA competitor.

“I’m from Indiana,” he told the crowd. “I’m from Indianapolis, and that’s the home of not only the second-best basketball team in the country this last year, but the biggest name in professional basketball today, Caitlin Clark. And Caitlin Clark has an enforcer. She’s the Marty McSorley to Wayne Gretzky, and she is a stunning athlete.”

He went on to explain, “I flew to Las Vegas and watched them in action against the Aces, and I would love to have Sophie Cunningham in WOW, because she takes down the competition, and she makes sure that Caitlin Clark is safe on the basketball floor. We’d love to have Sophie in WOW.”

After seeing a story about Dave McLane’s interest in Sophie Cunningham on social media, Jeanie Buss doubled down, writing, “We would love to have @SophieCunning5 join us at @wowsuperheroes she is talented, dedicated and a fierce competitor!!” Buss would later correct the X username she tagged to @@sophaller.

Women of Wrestling, which is based in Los Angeles, has been around since 2000. McLane, who also founded Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), has worked with Jeanie Buss to produce 10 seasons worth of shows (207 episodes) during that time. WOW is now one of the featured shows on Wrestling Central, a free ad-supported streaming television channel on The Roku Channel.

At a listed 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, Sophie Cunningham would certainly be a force to reckon with in the world of women’s pro wrestling (By comparison, current WWE star Rhea Ripley is 5-foot-7 and 135 pounds and often dwarfs other competitors). Her size and athleticism has star potential written all over it. After all, when the kicker on her high school football team got injured, she filled in and went 2-for-4 on field goal attempts, and she also achieved a black belt in taekwondo at the age of six.
