At the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, Jennifer Lopez’s new film Unstoppable, a biopic about one-legged NCAA champion wrestler Anthony Robles, had its world premiere.

What made the film’s debut at TIFF particularly newsworthy is the fact that it was produced by Artists Equity, which is the production company that was co-founded by Matt Damon and her new ex-husband Ben Affleck.

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, and 17 days later on September 6, Unstoppable premiered at TIFF. While Affleck, one of the film’s credited producers, was not in attendance, Damon was and was spotted speaking closely with Lopez during the festivities.

A photo of Lopez and Damon deep in conversation while holding hands went particularly viral, and according to reports from the Daily Mail, it was during that 20-minute conversation that Lopez tried to broach the subject of Affleck. Damon, however, apparently “shut down” those attempts.

Lopez was said to be keen to talk to Damon about her estranged husband in the wake of their divorce, but Damon was reportedly “not having any of it.”

“Matt Damon shut down any attempt that JLo made to discuss Ben at the premiere. It was her timing that was so awkward because she would have known that pulling Matt aside at the event to have an intimate talk was going to get picked up and go viral. Her whole hand on his hand was a nice touch – but he was not having any of it. He told her he is glad she is doing well and is thankful for her participation in the film – but he made it clear he was not there to talk about Ben at all.”

Unstoppable will have a limited theatrical release in December before streaming on Prime Video. The film has opened to strong reviews out of TIFF, as it currently has a 73% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
