Multiple members of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ family were involved in a car accident on Sunday, October 27. Everyone involved were still able to attend the Cowboys’ Sunday Night Football game against the 49ers.
According to reports, medical personnel were called to the scene of a car accident on Sunday after a car carrying Jerry Jones Jr., Charlotte Jones, and Charlotte’s son crashed into a “rising barricade” while en route to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California to watch the Cowboys take on the 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
Jerry Jones Jr. is the chief sales and marketing officer of the Dallas Cowboys, while Charlotte Jones serves as brand officer. Cowboys team owner, CEO, and general manager Jerry Jones was not in the car.
Michael Silver of The Athletic has reported that “the fear — according to members of the Jones family — is that Charlotte may have suffered a rib injury and that Jerry Jr. has a head injury.”
“Charlotte and Jerry Jr. were both evaluated by medical staff at the stadium and were then able to move on to the visiting owners’ suite for the game,” the Cowboys said in a statement regarding the incident.
In their Week 8 Sunday Night Football matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the Cowboys fell by a score of 30-24, dropping the team’s record to 3-4, which puts them in third place in the NFC East.
The Cowboys will look to rebound from their fourth-straight loss to the San Francisco 49ers with a Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 3 at 1 p.m. EST.
The Cowboys, losers of two straight games, sit third in the NFC East behind the 6-2 Washington Commanders and the 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles. While Dallas still has two games to play against both of those teams, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to turn their season around to that degree given how they’ve played through the first half of the season, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
