Jerry Jones Displays Fading Memory With Comment About Cowboys Blowout Loss To Saints

Delusion is nothing new for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

After all, Jones recently claimed that nobody could be a better general manager for the Cowboys than he could despite nearly three decades without an NFC Championship Game appearance.

But on Tuesday, the 81-year-old billionaire showed that his memory may not be what it once was when discussing his team’s blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

If we’ve got any albatross around our neck, it’s that we’ve been a good-to-very-good team during the season over the last 4-5 years with Mike and we haven’t done well in the playoffs,” Jones said on a radio hit with local station 105.3 The Fan. “So let’s trade some challenges during the season for doing well in the playoffs, if you want to look at it that way.”

There’s just one problem.

The Cowboys getting blown out in the regular season isn’t anything new. Dallas got absolutely destroyed, 42-10, by the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 of the 2023 season. Dallas lost to the Washington Commanders, 26-6, the year prior. In 2021, the lowly Denver Broncos blew out the Cowboys, 30-16, with Dallas scoring its 16 points late in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand.

Yes, Jones is correct in one aspect. The Cowboys have faltered in the postseason. But they’ve also shown glaring weaknesses in the regular season as well. And fans aren’t buying what Jones is selling.

This isn’t a trade-off they’re making. It’s not either or. Dallas’ regular season blowout losses are just displays of the flaws that always come back around in the playoffs.

But wait, there’s more!

Dallas was thoroughly dismantled by a Saints offense coached by first-year offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Where did Kubiak work last season?

He was the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, who absolutely dismantled the Cowboys’ defense.

McCarthy-coached Dallas teams have routinely been torn by both the 49ers and disciples of San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Expecting anything to change at this point is nothing shy of insanity.
