During the broadcast of the NFL preseason matchup between the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, audio picked up someone making a NSFW Howard Stern reference.

The game was going into halftime and the referee was making his ruling on a flag call to end the half.

Shortly after the penalty call was finished, the announcers began talking again as players started heading toward the tunnels.

But that’s when someone jumped on the microphone and dropped the Howard Stern reference.

Here’s the clip a Bucs fan pulled from the preseason game against the Jets where you can hear the Howard Stern reference.

For anyone out of the loop, the statement that somehow made its way on the broadcast is an old reference to The Howard Stern Show.

Stern’s long-time producer, Gary Dell’Abate accidentally said the phrase “Baba booey” on air one time. From that moment, it essentially became a meme before memes were even born.

During that time, people would yell the phrase during live broadcasts as a verbal prank. And now it’s seemingly made its way back in 2023.

Stern’s show reigned from 1994 to 2005. So, anyone who was at least a teenager during that time likely has a fond memory of the “baba booey” pranks.

With that said, maybe this trend makes a major comeback. The preseason game between the Jets and Bucs could have been the start of a Howard Stern meme born again.

Hopefully, that’s not the case, as I feel like that will get old real quick.
