The Jets Decision To Stick With Aaron Rodgers BFF Nathaniel Hackett Has Already Come Back To Bite Them

On Sunday, the New York Jets lost at home to the Denver Broncos, marking the first time that Aaron Rodgers had ever not scored a touchdown during a home game in which he played the entire time.

After kicker Greg Zuerlein missed a potential game-winning field goal, Rodgers could be seen looking dejected on the sidelines as the Jets — who began the season with Super Bowl aspirations — fell to 2-2.

Speaking to the media after the game, star wide receiver Garrett Wilson said that they played “terrible” and therefore deserved to lose.

“We played terrible. And when you play terrible, you deserve to lose. And we lost. It feels terrible, you know but we’ve got to move on and get ready for next week,” Wilson said after the 10-9 home loss to the Denver Broncos, in which he had five catches for just 41 yards.

To put into further context just how awful the Jets’ offense was, they got outscored by a team with a rookie starting quarterback who passed for just 60 yards. Running back Breece Hall, who many thought could be the #1 overall player in fantasy football this season, had 10 carries for just FOUR yards.

The Jets had an entire offseason to scheme ways to get the ball into Wilson’s hands, and yet so far this season, he’s yet to top 60 yards in a single game. Through the first quarter of the season, Wilson has just 20 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown.

While a healthy organization would’ve dealt with the root of their offensive ineptitude, coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, Gang Green still employ the former Denver Broncos head coach because he’s akin to being Rodgers’ emotional support animal, as his friendship with the QB is the only thing still protecting his employment.

To give Hackett a shred of credit, though, Jets head coach Robert Saleh is among the worst head coaches in the league, as he’s consistently overseen sloppy teams like this one since coming to New York in 2021.

Even Rodgers seems to be getting fed up with Saleh’s incompetence, as evidenced by his reaction to Saleh’s comments about his snap count cadence potentially causing issues with the offensive line.

Responding to Saleh’s suggestion that the team needed to change its offensive cadence in order to cut back on penalties, Rodgers curtly responded that another fix would be “holding them [the offensive line] accountable.”

The Jets now head to London to take on the 4-0 Vikings, led by their former quarterback and surprise MVP candidate Sam Darnold, in Week 5.
