Jett Washington, the nephew of late NBA star Kobe Bryant, is one of the top recruits in the college football Class of 2026. The Las Vegas-native just began his junior year at Bishop Gorman and recently cut his list of potential future programs to seven!

With that being said, there is still a very long way to go in his recruitment, which will require him to make a decision no later than February of 2026— likely during the Early Signing Period in December of 2025.

Washington is listed at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds as a safety, but some scouts believe that he will one day outgrow the position and transition to wide receiver. He is ranked as the top player in Nevada and a top-100 player in the country. 21 schools have offered him a scholarship thus far!

However, USC is not one of them. Washington grew up as a fan of the Trojans and would love to reunite with his former high school teammate, Zachariah Branch, if Lincoln Riley’s staff give him the chance.

As of right now, that is not an option.

According to Adam Gorney of Rivals, the four-star recruit has Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Michigan and Notre Dame at the top of his list. A trip to South Bend is a priority for the fall.

Jett likes Notre Dame and Oregon because of their history, especially Notre Dame. Notre Dame had (NFL All-Pro safety) Kyle Hamilton a couple of years ago. They know how to work a 6-4 safety.

Washington made 37 tackles as a sophomore with two interceptions. Bishop Gorman went 12-0, won the state championship and finished as a top-five team in the country, if not No. 1!

The Gaels’ ball-hawking safety was all over the field in their season-opening win over Kahuku High School on Friday.

He had two picks in a 33-7 victory.

Jett Washington comes from a bloodline of athletes, including Kobe Bryant.

Washington’s father led the University of Virginia in rushing as a senior in 1993. His mother played volleyball at Temple. She is the older sister of Kobe Bryant, so basketball is also in their blood!

Although Washington is a talented hooper in his own right, he has yet to receive an offer to play on the next level. College football is the most logical route forward as of right now.

Florida, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are the other notable programs to give Washington a look. His list of offers will only continue to grow with another impressive season this fall.

No matter where he ends up, Kobe Bryant’s nephew is going to carve his own path. Jett Washington is a name you should not soon forget!
