Vic Fangio is one of the most respected defensive minds in the National Football League. The current defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles has been wreaking havoc on offenses as a coach for over nearly 40 years.

And, until injuries started to pile up, Fangio did a really nice job with the Miami Dolphins a year ago, turning them into a top-ten defense in the league in yards allowed. But, star safety Jevon Holland was not a fan of the Vic Fangio experience.

Holland played at a high level last year when he was healthy, tallying 65 tackles and a 99-yard pick-six in his ten games last year. Frankly, it’s hard to argue that Vic Fangio didn’t get the most out of most of the players on that Dolphins defense.

But, Holland is no fan of Vic Fangio, and had this to say on the Pivot Podcast.

“Even though he was our coach, he wanted to be somewhere else… I was like, ‘Peace’.”

That’s not a good look for Vic Fangio if he was indeed checked out during his year in Miami. It would be unacceptable in any circumstances, but it’s especially unacceptable considering that the Dolphins were a playoff team and were involved in a tough AFC East race all season.

Ultimately, whatever went on didn’t dissuade Nick Siranni and the Philadelphia Eagles from bringing the 65-year-old Eastern Pennsylvania native on to fix their defensive woes from a year ago.

Miami’s defense will turn to Anthony Weaver to lead Jevon Holland and the rest of the unit for this upcoming season.
